Services

The computer lab is located in the lower level of the Carnegie Building at Fort Branch and is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 to 5:00, Tuesday 1:00 to 7:00, Friday from 1:00 to 5:00 and closed on Saturday.  On Saturday’s there will be one available computer for 15 minute time slots at both libraries.  The lab is open and accessible to the public and features state of the art computer workstations with high speed internet access.

The computer workstations run Microsoft Windows and provides the most popular web browsers plus Microsoft Office software. Check with our friendly librarians to learn the availability of software and hardware throughout our computer lab, or inform them of any special requirements you may need.

The lab provides:

• 8 computer workstations
• Large widescreen monitors
• Audio earphones
• copier/printer (scan to USB capabilities)
• Additional seating available with electrical outlets for your laptop.
• Laminating services

Both libraries and the computer lab offer free wireless access (Wi- Fi) in public areas 24/7 and can even be reached from our parking lots. How to connect to the Library’s Wireless Network:

• Using your computer’s network utilities, at Fort Branch look for the wireless network  “FBPL-Guest-Wifi”  at Haubstadt look for “HAUBGUEST”.
• No password is required.
• Wait for the pop up window to load and then scroll down to the bottom and hit “Continue to Internet”.

Limitations and Disclaimers Regarding Wireless Access

Please keep in mind that the Library’s wireless network is not secure. Information sent to or from your laptop can be captured by anyone else with a wireless device and the appropriate software, within approximately three hundred feet.

Library staff is not able to provide technical assistance and no guarantee can be provided that you will be able to make a wireless connection. The Library assumes no responsibility for the safety of equipment or for laptop configurations, security, or data files resulting from connection to the Library’s wireless network. Use of wireless network is governed by our computer use policy, please familiarize yourself with our terms and conditions of using the Library’s Wi-Fi network.

WIFI ACCESS HOURS

Our WiFi Service is available at all hours.

Both libraries offer copying, printing, faxing and scanning. Talk to any one of the friendly staff who can help with any of these services. The computer lab offers copying, printing, and scanning.

Copies and computer printing costs:  20 cents for black and white copies and 40 cents for color. Double-sided copies cost 30 cents per sheet for black and white and 60 cents per sheet for color.

To send a fax it is recommended that you have a cover page that has the fax number and name of the person to whom you are sending it to. Charge is $2.00 for any number of pages. We are able to scan onto your flash drives. We will not scan to an email.

We do have flash drives that can be purchased at the front desk for your convenience.

Need something printed fast?  Need something printed from your phone?  Don’t know your email password to log into it on the lab computer?  Send what you need printed to:  print@kou.ilw.mybluehost.me and we will print it for you!  Please include your name and which location you would like to pick it up at.

PRINT, COPY AND FAX FEES

Our fees for using Library printers, copiers, and fax services is governed by our fees policy.

The Lois Kissel Meeting Room is in the Fort Branch Learning Center, right next to the Carnegie Building in Fort Branch. We use it now for our entire Library.  What used to be the computer lab in the Learning Center, is now our Activities Room.  This room is used for our program space.

Anytime there is no prior event scheduled, the room is available for use. There are tables and chairs, easily seating 25 people. There is a movie screen for those wanting to do a Powerpoint presentation.

There are only two rules:  there is no food or drink allowed, and your meeting must take place during regular library hours.

Currently, there is no charge for the use of the Activities Room and as long as everyone cleans up after themselves.

The Haubstadt Library has capabilities for very small meetings of 6-8 people. Persons interested in this venue must remember that the meeting must be held during hours that the library is open and there is no privacy. Same rule: no food or drinks allowed.
