Teen / Young Adult Programs
Wouldn’t you like to keep your child engaged in learning over the summer break in a rewarding and fun way? Just think, they can build their vocabulary, learn and practice good grammar skills, go on an adventure in knowledge and have a good time, all by reading books!
Our Summer Reading Program is designed to challenge readers and provide a structure for them to spend some quality time reading with a accountability program to assist in not getting too distracted with television and video games.
All you have to do is sign up and read the required number of age appropriate books in the allotted program time – don’t worry it’s a breeze! There’s a party with even more goodies at the end of the program. We’ve even got a Summer Reading Program for adults too.
WHEN & WHERE
The Summer Reading Program begins in May with a kick off party and ends in July with a completion party. Every year the Program gets a new “Theme” and activities are planned based on that theme. Program is available at both Fort Branch and Haubstadt locations.
The 2021 theme is “Tails & Tales”
Please keep an eye on our Facebook page with updates!
Our Student workers at the libraries put together programs for our middle school aged children. We will hold them periodically throughout the year usually on a Friday evening. Check the Calendar on this website to see when our next one is scheduled.
In 2019, we started a Summer Book Club for kids who just finished 5-8th grade! This “Junior ‘Beyond the Book’ Club” includes our group reading the same book, which we provide, and then we get together to discuss the book and participate in games and activities related to the book!
Upcoming Books:
Past Books:
“Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief” by Rick Riordan
“City of Ember” by Jeanne DuPrau
